It is what it supposed to be. 😉 More precisely, upon a closer look: a piece of a metal (aluminum alloy?) pipe, formed to the shape. The hadle is wrapped with a paracord line to improve grip, but the wrapping is a bit loosy and not glued or firmly stabilised in any way. At both ends of the handle part the line is just threaded throught the holes and ended with nodes. Given the slightly conical shape of the handle, line tends to shift back and forth (photo #3 and #4), which you can do easily with fingers, not mentioning how it will behave when got dirty in the field. So the grip can be the first thing a buyer will face the need to improve. Overall, the shovel is rather a toy for kids or to substitute hands/fingers in precise and delicate excavation works (i.e. for peoples that search things with metal detectors). Satisfaction value: 4 out of 5 stars.
